When a family member has a brain injury it can put a great strain on the whole family unit.

Difficulties can arise, particularly when roles have to change and the dynamics of family life shift.

Headway Hertfordshire supports carers in a number of ways, such as providing counselling and by giving them some respite. We also provide a variety of workshops and courses specifically for carers, so that they can understand what has happened to their loved one and learn how to cope.

We also have carers’ support groups, carers’ lunches and other social activities. We organise these groups so carers can meet others in a similar position and share their experiences with others who understand.
