Acquired Brian Injury is the name used for a brain injury the person was not born with – something which has happened since birth.
There are many possible causes of an ABI, including tumour, stroke, brain haemorrhage and encephalitis to name a few.
Injury can also be caused by trauma such as a fall, accident or assault. These types of injury are referred to as Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), the effects of which can be wide ranging and depend on a number of factors such as the type, location and severity of injury.
Approaches to treating and coping with different types of brain injury vary greatly from case to case. We can help.
